  FABULOUS TEACHERS WHO LOVE THEIR STUDENTS My daughter has had a wonderful experience at St Andrew preschool the past two years. The teachers she has had are FABULOUS!! They really love the children and care about their growth and development. Their philosophy is learn through play and they stay very true to this in all they do. Everyday my daughter comes home and tells me what an amazing day she had at school and THAT is what is most important. She is nurtured, she has fun, and she is right where she should be in terms of academics.
  
  There have been some growing pains with the new director, as with any new leadership in any organization. But the director is highly educated and truly has the best interest of the children in mind. She only wants better for the school and that should be applauded.
  
  St Andrew is a great preschool and I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking a preschool.

  Three years ago this was an amazing school. The teachers were great, the curriculum was impressive, the parents were always involved and the director always kept things running smoothly. Everything was going great until the Ms. Stoup decided to step down to have a baby. The next year we got a new director and everything went down hill pretty quick.
  
  This new director has changed just about everything that made the school great. Popular programs like lunch-bunch have been canceled. The registration process went from "show up and register" to "fill out this form, mail it in, enter a random drawing, 2 weeks later we will notify you if you've been selected". We no longer have 2 year old, 3 year old and four year old classes, now we have the "brown dogs", "red cats" and the "green snakes" classes. The classes remain basically the same, just now they are impossible to understand. This year the director announced that soon we would have advanced classes and normal classes. And to sort the children parents are required to fill out forms detailing very private information such as medical conditions, learning speed, bed wetting, etc. Anything negative you put on your form will be used to put your child in the slow class. Isn't it wonderful that we have advanced classes in preschool? Seriously?
  
  I think this is going to be the last straw for us. Most of the teachers are still really great, but they can only do so much when the director is insane. How can you expect them to do their jobs when the director tells her favorite parents about new programs before she even tells her teachers?
  
  The entire school has just become very dysfunctional. The preschool board is suppose to keep an eye on the director, but earlier this year the director decided to remove the parent representative from the board. Who did she replace that person with? Why, herself of course! You see, those pesky parents kept complaining about things and we couldn't have that. So the obvious solution is to just get rid of the one outlet parents have to voice their opinions.
  
  The only reason so many people come here is because there are so few options for preschool in NE Suffolk but I think we've finally had enough. Please don't come here. If you are looking for something, go find some other school. Maybe this place will get better if they ever fire the director, but until then I would stay far, far away.
